Princess Catherine Steps Out in a Look Strikingly Similar to Queen Camilla’s — Sparking Royal Déjà Vu and a “Who Wore It Better?” Debate — Photo

The Royal Roles Had Moved to the Next Generation

At Skyfall, Camilla walked the carpet as the wife of Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. At Digger, Catherine appeared beside Prince William, the Prince of Wales.

The titles had moved forward by a generation, while the photographs seemed to look backward. An old royal jewel had returned, a deep-purple evening gown surrounded it again, and another Prince of Wales stood just a few steps away.

These dresses were not identical: Camilla’s velvet was heavier and more structured, while Catherine’s chiffon moved more softly and gave the 2026 version a lighter feel.

Still, those differences did little to stop viewers from comparing them. Once the images began appearing next to each other online, people immediately chose sides.

Fans Turned the Déjà Vu Into a Competition

The debate spread through Instagram and Facebook, and some viewers did not hesitate to choose a favorite. “Camilla wore it better,” one person wrote, while another followed with, “The outfit looked better on Camilla.”
