Princess Catherine Steps Out in a Look Strikingly Similar to Queen Camilla’s — Sparking Royal Déjà Vu and a “Who Wore It Better?” Debate — Photo
Her recent premiere wardrobe had also been comparatively streamlined. Top Gun: Maverick brought a sharp black-and-white Roland Mouret look, while A Street Cat Named Bob saw Catherine in a much lighter white Self-Portrait dress.
For Digger, however, the cameras captured something far more traditionally regal. And when those photographs were put beside Camilla’s pictures from 2012, the feeling was less like a simple fashion coincidence and more like royal déjà vu.
Catherine Gave the Historic Jewel a Fresh New Life
Catherine stepped onto the carpet in a deep-purple Jenny Packham chiffon gown, with soft pleating, flowing sleeves, and a sweeping silhouette. At her neckline was the Queen Mother’s amethyst sautoir — the jewel Camilla had worn to Skyfall 14 years earlier.
The dramatic return to royal evening glamour immediately separated the look from Catherine’s more minimalist movie-premiere outfits of recent years. But it was the old Camilla photographs that made the new appearance impossible to look at in isolation.

There was Camilla in 2012, wrapped in purple velvet beneath the flashbulbs. And now there was Catherine in 2026, surrounded by flowing purple chiffon with the familiar heart-shaped amethyst sitting at the center once again.
But the most striking part of the side-by-side was not confined to their dresses. The men standing beside them completed the picture.
