WHEN MY HUSBAND’S PREGNANT MISTRESS CALLED ME BARREN, I PRETENDED TO BE PREGNANT—BUT SHE DIDN’T KNOW WHAT I HAD DISCOVERED

Then I noticed a transfer of money to an unfamiliar account.

The amount was significant, but I assumed it might have been connected to Kelly’s business.

I continued reading.

There was another transfer.

Then another.

Within six months, a large portion of our savings had disappeared.

I sat down slowly.

The money we had been putting aside for a house had been transferred in installments to an account I didn’t recognize.

I asked the bank representative whether she could tell me who owned it.

She explained that she couldn’t disclose another customer’s private information without the proper authorization or legal process.

I understood.

I wasn’t asking her to break the rules. I needed to know what I was dealing with before making any decisions.

I requested copies of the statements and left the bank with my hands shaking.

Outside, I called Amaka.

“Something is wrong.”

“What happened?”

“Kelly has been moving money out of our savings account for months.”
