The Vacation of a Lifetime and The Scorpion at the Pyramid

 The Missing Artifact

Dr. Kareem later explained that decades earlier, an excavation had taken place somewhere near the area.

Several artifacts had disappeared from the records.

One of them was a small golden object shaped like a scorpion.

“Nobody knows where it went,” he said.

Ryan looked at him.

“And you think it’s inside that chamber?”

“No.”

“Then where is it?”

Dr. Kareem looked at Emily.

“We may already have it.”

Everyone became silent.

Emily remembered the dream.

The old woman holding a golden scorpion.

She suddenly remembered something else.

The night before the attack, while walking through the hotel lobby, she had noticed an antique display.

Among the objects was a small golden scorpion.

She had taken a photograph of it because it looked interesting.

She pulled up the picture.

Dr. Kareem stared at the screen.

“That’s it.”

Daniel frowned.

“You’re telling me a hotel has an ancient artifact that disappeared decades ago?”

“Perhaps they don’t know what they have.”

They returned to the hotel.

The display case was still there.

But the golden scorpion was gone.

Daniel immediately asked the manager.

The manager looked confused.

“That object has been there for years.”

“Where is it now?”

“I don’t know.”

Then one of the hotel employees approached them.

He looked frightened.

“Sir…”

“What?”

“I saw someone take it last night.”

“Who?”

The employee swallowed.

“An old woman.”

Emily’s blood ran cold.

“What did she look like?”

The employee stared at her.

“Like the woman in your photograph.”
