“I did.”
“And you told me this house would be ours.”
Tyler hesitated.
“I said we’d figure something out.”
“No. You said I wouldn’t have to worry about anything.”
Her voice rose.
“You told me you had everything under control.”
Tyler stared at her.
Then he said something that changed the entire atmosphere in the kitchen.
“Rachel, did you come here because you wanted to be with me, or because you thought I could give you this house?”
She looked as though he had slapped her.
“How dare you?”
“Answer the question.”
“I am carrying your child!”
“That doesn’t answer it.”
She looked at me, then back at him.
“You’re unbelievable.”
She grabbed her handbag.
Tyler stood.
“Rachel, wait.”
“No. You said your wife would move out. You said the property issue was settled. You said you would take care of everything.”
“I thought I could.”
“You thought?”
Her voice broke with anger.
