My Husband Moved His Mistress Into My House—But Neither of Them Knew What I Had Discovered

I waited.

“The draft identifies a person who was supposed to become the trustee.”

“Who?”

“Richard.”

I stared at the wall.

“That doesn’t sound unusual by itself.”

“No,” Margaret said. “But the proposed trust was to receive a substantial sum of money after a specific event.”

“What event?”

She hesitated.

“The death of an individual whose identity is still being verified.”

I felt a chill crawl up my spine.

“Someone was supposed to die?”

“The document refers to a death-triggered payment. That does not establish that anyone planned a killing, Claire. There can be legitimate reasons for such arrangements. But given the other evidence, the investigators are examining it carefully.”

I understood.

The baby.

The company.

The mysterious investors.

The missing employee.

The threats.

Everything had been connected by documents that no one had yet fully explained.

“Do they know who the individual was?”

“Not conclusively.”

I looked down at my hands.
