“Don’t be childish, Alexandra.”
I looked at him.
“You filed a lawsuit against me. You allowed your company to accuse me of misconduct. You spent months trying to pressure me into accepting a false account of events. What exactly do you believe we still need to discuss?”
He lowered his voice.
“You have made your point.”
“No. The court has asked for evidence. That is not the same thing.”
His expression tightened.
“You should think carefully about the consequences of what you’re doing. Investigations can damage everyone involved. Daniel has a daughter. You have a career. Do you want Sophie to grow up hearing that her grandfather was ruined by her mother?”
I felt anger rise in my chest.
Then I remembered why I had fought so hard to keep Sophie away from the worst of the dispute.
“Do not use my daughter to frighten me.”
“I’m trying to make you understand the bigger picture.”
