Dolly also loved pie.

Whisk together the brown sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt.

Combine the condensed milk and water, then gradually whisk it into the dry ingredients.

Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick and bubbling.

Temper the egg yolks with a little of the hot filling, then return everything to the pan and cook another 1–2 minutes.

Remove from the heat and stir in the butter and vanilla.

Pour into the cooled crust and chill until set.

Serve with whipped cream.

There are some people you never meet who still leave fingerprints all over your life.

Dolly was one of those people for me.
