“Go back to your seat,” I said quietly.
“You’re misunderstanding—”
“I watched you kiss her.”
He stopped.
For several seconds, neither of us spoke.
Then he leaned closer.
“Please don’t make a scene.”
I looked around at the passengers.
“Ryan, I’m sitting quietly in my seat. You’re the one who came over here.”
He straightened.
His cheeks reddened.
“I’ll explain everything when we land.”
“No. You’ll explain why you lied about going to Chicago for work.”
His mouth opened, but no answer came.
I turned toward the window.
“Go.”
He stood there for another moment before walking away.
I watched him return to Megan.
She whispered something urgently, and he shook his head.
Then she looked toward the back of the plane.
Our eyes met.
Her expression changed so dramatically that I knew she understood.
She knew I’d seen them.
For the rest of the flight, neither of them looked comfortable.
