Regular foot care can help you notice blisters, swelling, skin changes, or areas of tenderness that might otherwise go unnoticed.
How to Give Yourself a Simple Five-Minute Foot Massage
You do not need special equipment or expensive oils. A comfortable chair and clean hands are enough.
Minute 1: Warm up your feet. Rub both feet gently with your hands to create a comfortable, soothing sensation.
Minute 2: Massage your toes. Gently rub the big toe and each smaller toe. Do not pull or twist them forcefully.
Minute 3: Work along the arch. Use your thumb to make slow circles along the sole, applying only comfortable pressure.
Minute 4: Massage the heel and ball of the foot. Move your thumb in small circles over these padded areas.
Minute 5: Finish with gentle strokes. Rub the sole and top of the foot lightly, then repeat the routine on the other foot whenever you have more time.
You can use a small amount of moisturizer if your skin is dry, but avoid applying lotion between the toes if it tends to leave the area damp.
