I am not trying to erase them because he is gone.
But I also know that an arrest is not the same thing as knowing everything that happened inside a situation.
Years earlier, while Andy was living in North Carolina, there had been a domestic incident.
My children were there.
I received a call and drove for hours in the middle of the night because I wanted my children out of that environment.
Andy had been arrested.
I saw the aftermath myself.
I remember how angry I was.
I remember seeing injuries on him.
I remember seeing what had happened to his belongings.
I remember pictures of our children being torn apart.
I remember how chaotic everything felt.
There were circumstances surrounding that incident that made me question whether the version people later repeated was the entire story.
I cannot personally prove everything other people told me about it.
So I won’t pretend that I can.
What I can tell you is what I saw with my own eyes.
And eventually, that case was dismissed.
But the arrest remained.
That is something people don’t always understand about accusations.
The internet remembers the accusation.
It doesn’t always remember the ending.
A photograph gets shared.
