Teen Wore a Dress to His Best Friend’s Funeral – Family Nearly Had Him Removed Before He Reached the Microphone

Theo shrugged.

“It’s okay.”

“No, it isn’t.”

My brother-in-law looked toward the photographs.

“You loved Jack. You were there for him when a lot of us couldn’t be. I should have remembered that before opening my mouth.”

Theo’s expression softened.

“Thank you.”

My brother-in-law offered his hand.

Theo shook it.

Then the two of them stood awkwardly for a moment before my brother-in-law pulled him into a hug.

One by one, other people approached Theo.

Some apologized. Others simply thanked him for sharing Jack’s story.

An elderly aunt of Daniel’s came over, adjusted her handbag, and studied Theo’s dress.

“I have to admit,” she said, “I still don’t understand why a boy would wear a dress.”

Theo looked as though he wasn’t sure whether to laugh.

“But that was a beautiful speech.”

He smiled politely.

“Thank you.”

She nodded.

“And your sister was right. The color suits you.”

Theo laughed.
