Teen Girl Brought a Cardboard Boy to Graduation – Classmates Teased Her Until She Stepped up to the Microphone

“I wrote this during Felix’s sophomore year,” he said. “His teachers had told me how hard he was working despite his illness. I remember being impressed by his determination.”

He looked at Emma.

“I remember thinking that he had more courage than many people twice his age.”

“Then why didn’t you remember him when I asked?” Emma said.

William lowered his head.

“I was focused on keeping the ceremony organized. I was thinking about rules, timing, and making sure every student was treated consistently.”

He paused.

“I didn’t stop to consider what those decisions meant to you.”

Emma watched him.

“You threatened to keep me from graduating.”

“Yes.”

“You embarrassed me in front of everyone.”

“Yes.”

“And you didn’t even ask why I needed him here.”

William’s eyes filled with regret.

“No. I didn’t.”

For several seconds, the gym remained completely still.

Then he took a breath.

“Emma, I owe you an apology.”
