Six Weeks Postpartum, Milk Leaked Through My Shirt at the Kertati Store – I Didn’t Notice Until a Man Called Me Out

The man waved a hand toward me.“She was walking around like that.”Peter glanced at my shirt. Then he seemed to understand. His expression flattened. The man continued, “I simply told her she should have some decency in public.”

The mother with the toddler said, “You told her nobody needed to see her.”He spun toward her. “Mind your business.”Peter’s voice sharpened. “Sir, you’re being rude.”The aisle went quiet.

Peter stepped between us, though he kept a respectful distance from me.

“What’s your name?”The man hesitated.“Ronald.”“Ronald, from what I’m hearing, you approached a customer who wasn’t bothering you, commented on her body, and continued after she became visibly uncomfortable.”“I was trying to help.”Maria said, “By humiliating her?”

Ronald pointed at Maria.“She’s the problem, walking around like that.”Peter looked at him.“No. From what I’m hearing, you started this.”Ronald’s mouth fell open.“You can’t be serious.”

“I am.”Ronald gave a short laugh.“So this is acceptable now?”Peter looked at my shirt again.“A customer having breast milk leak through clothing isn’t a violation of store policy.”Someone behind us snorted.

Ronald turned even redder.

Peter continued, “You’re welcome to finish your shopping. But you’re going to leave these customers alone. If you continue bothering them, I’ll ask you to leave.”Ronald stared at him.“No apology?”Peter seemed genuinely confused.“From whom?”Ronald looked around.
