I stared at Margaret.
“He used our son.”
“That’s what the documents suggest.”
“The custody case was never about giving Tyler a better future.”
“Not entirely, perhaps.”
I remembered Harrison’s attorney presenting photographs of his mansion, his private school recommendations, and his plans for Tyler’s education.
I remembered Tyler’s testimony.
My mom can’t give me the future I need.
Had Harrison told him the same things?
Had he convinced my son that choosing him was the only way to protect our family?
Margaret reached for another document.
“This email was included in the material your son apparently recovered. But the most important evidence is still missing.”
“What evidence?”
“The original recording of a meeting between Harrison and the financial adviser. Richard arranged for it to be preserved before he died.”
“Why would Tyler know where it is?”
“Because Richard left him a message.”
Margaret turned her laptop toward me.
