My Husband’s Other Woman Came to My Door and Said, ‘I’m Pregnant with His Baby, and We Needed This House to Raise Our Family’

“She knows the house was paid for with Dad’s money,” I said.

Margaret nodded.

“That is what makes her visit so strange.”

“Tyler must have told her.”

“Probably. But we don’t know exactly what he said.”

I looked at the document again.

“She didn’t ask about the cars or his salary. She came here for this house.”

“Which is why we need to understand what Tyler has promised her.”

Margaret opened another folder.

“There is something else. Before you decide what to do, you need independent legal advice. The deed is important, but we shouldn’t assume we know every possible issue until a lawyer reviews the circumstances.”

I nodded.

For the first time that morning, I felt as though I was thinking clearly.

“Then we’ll speak to one.”

“And the accounts?”

“I want a complete review. Nothing hidden, nothing moved without understanding the consequences.”

“Good.”

She squeezed my hand.

“Debra, listen to me. You don’t have to make every decision today. You don’t have to decide what happens to the marriage while you’re still in shock.”
