MY HUSBAND DI:ED IN A CAR CRASH — BUT A MONTH AFTER HIS FUNERAL, HIS BOSS CALLED AND SAID,

I pulled out my laptop.

My hands were shaking so badly I could barely type.

The files opened.

Bank records.

Names.

Payments.

Dates.

Everything Liam had discovered was there.

And at the bottom of the final document was a name.

The person who had authorized every transfer.

The person who had ordered the cover-up.

I stared at the screen.

Then I stopped breathing.

Because the name wasn’t Marcus.

It wasn’t Daniel.

It wasn’t Sarah.

It was someone I had trusted my entire life.

Someone who had been at Liam’s funeral.

Someone who had cried beside me.

Someone who had spent the last three weeks telling me she loved me.

I slowly turned toward Sarah.

She looked at the screen.

Then at me.

And whispered:

“Emily…”

I shook my head.

“No.”

She began crying.

I looked at the name again.

SARAH MILLER.

My sister’s name was on every transfer.

Every payment.

Every instruction.

Every document.

I backed away from her.

“You said you didn’t know.”

“I didn’t.”

“You said they used your account.”

“They did.”

“Then why is your signature on these documents?”

Sarah stared at the screen.

Her face went completely blank.

“I never signed that.”

Marcus stepped closer.

“That’s what Liam was trying to prove.”
