My Boyfriend Proposed to Me in the Most Romantic Way on Valentine’s Day, but the Next Morning, He Demanded the Ring Back

The door was slightly open.

I pushed it gently.

The room had been transformed.

Small candles stood along the counter, their flames reflecting in the mirror. Fresh rose petals covered the edge of the bathtub, and a few more had been arranged in a heart-shaped pattern beside the sink.

But it was the writing on the mirror that made my breath catch.

In large red letters, someone had written:

“WILL YOU MARRY ME?”

I brought both hands to my mouth.

For a moment, the words seemed unreal, as though I were looking at a scene from a romantic movie rather than standing inside my own apartment.

Then something moved behind the shower curtain.

I jumped.

Daniel stepped out, laughing nervously.

“Sorry,” he said. “I was trying to make sure you actually followed the roses.”

I stared at him, tears already gathering in my eyes.

“Daniel…”

He walked toward me, and the playful expression on his face slowly disappeared. In its place was something much more vulnerable.
