We visited several jewelry stores before finding a ring I loved.
It wasn’t the biggest diamond in the display case, nor the most expensive. It was a simple, elegant design with a delicate band and a stone that caught the light whenever I moved my hand.
When I tried it on, Daniel watched my face carefully.
“What do you think?”
I held my hand up.
“I think it’s beautiful.”
“Then it’s the one.”
He paid for it, and we left the store holding hands.
That evening, he prepared dinner at home.
There were no elaborate decorations this time. No trail of rose petals. No message written across a mirror.
Just the two of us, a simple meal, and an honest conversation about the future.
After dinner, Daniel took a small box from his pocket.
I raised an eyebrow.
“Seriously?”
He laughed nervously.
“I know. I’m becoming predictable.”
“You’d better be careful. At this rate, I’ll start expecting a proposal every month.”
