I had a baby at 79, and my children went to court to have me declared mentally incompetent—But when the judge asked who the baby’s father was, the courtroom door opened…

“But she’s proving exactly what we’ve been saying! She’s living in a fantasy!”

“Ms. Miller, sit down.”

Susan slowly returned to her chair.

The judge turned back to me.

“Do you have evidence supporting your claim?”

“My lawyer has the documents.”

Helen placed a sealed folder on the table.

“Your Honor, the DNA records confirm that the child is biologically related to Mrs. Miller and her husband.”

The judge opened the folder.

He studied the first page.

Then the second.

His expression changed.

“Where is Mr. Miller?”

I looked toward the courtroom doors.

“He is coming.”

Michael laughed bitterly.

“He’s been dead since I was six.”

I turned toward my son.

“No, Michael.”

His smile disappeared.

“He has been alive.”

Nobody spoke.

Then the courtroom doors opened.

An elderly man stood there.

He was thin.

His white hair was almost completely gray.

He held a dark wooden cane in one hand.

For several seconds, nobody moved.

Then he slowly stepped inside.

I recognized his eyes before I recognized anything else.

My knees almost gave way.

“George.”

The man looked at me.

His eyes filled with tears.

“Hello, Margaret.”

Susan screamed.

Michael stood so quickly that his chair fell backward.

“No.”

  1. I bet there was a “sperm bank” involved!! Right? When her husband knew he was going to die, they decided to save some sperm in case she eventually wanted to have more children. So it seems she did!

    1. You’re definitely thinking in the right direction! 👀 There was something preserved from their fertility treatment years earlier—but the story explains exactly what it was and how it made the pregnancy possible. Keep reading because that part comes later. ❤️
