I took photographs of the notifications using my own phone, capturing only the messages visible on the shared device.
Then I disconnected the tablet from the account.
I wasn’t going to distribute anyone’s intimate images or use them to humiliate Megan. Whatever she’d sent Ryan was private, and I had no intention of turning her photographs into a weapon.
But the messages themselves told me something important.
They had been planning their deception.
They had been sharing a secret life while I cooked dinners, raised children, and believed my husband was simply tired from traveling.
I put my phone away.
For the first time since boarding the airplane, I stopped wondering whether I was overreacting.
I wasn’t.
I was finally seeing the truth.
When I returned to the hospital, Mom was awake and reading a magazine.
She looked up.
“Did you find him?”
I sat down beside her.
“Yes.”
“And?”
