“Curtis, could you help me again, please?”
Lucas pulled out one of his earbuds.
“Oh, come on! Give it a rest, lady!”
Curtis stopped beside our seats.
“What’s happened now?”
“He’s continued pressing against me after you warned him. I’ve also asked him to keep his bag out of my space.”
Lucas laughed.
“That’s ridiculous.”
I took out my phone.
“I wrote down what happened because I wanted to give you an accurate account.”
Curtis listened while I explained the sequence of events.
Lucas interrupted several times.
“That’s not what happened!”
“She’s exaggerating!”
“There’s barely any room!”
Curtis eventually raised his hand.
“Sir, please let her finish. I’ll listen to your account afterward.”
I finished explaining.
Then I turned toward the woman across the aisle.
“Would you mind telling Curtis what you witnessed?”
She looked nervous again.
For one uncomfortable second, I thought she might change her mind.
Then she placed her magazine on her lap.
