When my husband told my daughter, “You don’t even realize how beautiful your figure is,” I became seriously worried for the first time. A few weeks later, during a party, I noticed him whisper something to my daughter, and the two of them walked away together. Five minutes later, I was already standing outside a locked door…

There were about twenty people in the house.

Music was playing. People were laughing. Children were running around. The smell of food filled the kitchen.

I kept trying to convince myself that I had simply become too suspicious over the past few weeks.

Until I saw Daniel.

He was standing beside Emily, whispering something in her ear.

Emily glanced at me.

Then she nodded.

Daniel was the first one to leave the room.

About ten seconds later, Emily followed him.

My heart began pounding.

I waited.

One minute.

Two.

Three.

They didn’t come back.

By the fifth minute, I was already walking upstairs.

The hallway was almost completely silent.

At the end of the hall was the guest bedroom.

The door was closed.

I slowly approached it.

Then I heard voices inside.

Daniel’s voice.

“Okay. Stand up now.”

Then Emily.

“Like this?”

“Yes. Turn around.”

I froze.

Then Daniel said something that made my stomach tighten.

“Your mother is going to cry when she sees this.”

Emily gave a quiet laugh.

“I hope they’re happy tears.”

I couldn’t wait any longer.

I grabbed the door handle.

Locked.

I knocked.

The voices inside immediately stopped.

“Emily.”

No answer.

“Open the door.”
