Waking Up at 3 or 4 A.M. Every Night? Your Body May Be Trying to Tell You Something

The issue isn’t necessarily the waking time.

It may be the mismatch between your schedule and your actual sleep needs.

This is especially relevant if you wake at 3 or 4 A.M. feeling completely alert rather than tired.

Your sleep schedule may need adjustment.
18. Aging Can Change Your Sleep Pattern

Sleep often changes with age.

Older adults may spend less time in deep sleep and experience more nighttime awakenings.

They may also become more sensitive to noise, temperature, medications, pain, or the need to urinate.

This doesn’t mean poor sleep is an unavoidable part of aging.

But it does mean that the sleep pattern you had at 25 may not be exactly the same at 55 or 70.

Healthy sleep habits become increasingly important.

And persistent sleep problems should not simply be dismissed as “getting older.”
Why Do You Keep Waking at Exactly 3 or 4 A.M.?

This is one of the most common questions.
