The Night Before Our Divorce, My Husband Whispered, “Just One Last Time kertati ”—Then His Phone Revealed a Secret That Changed Everything.

PART 1

“Just one last time,” Joshua whispered as he slipped into my bed on the quiet night right before our final divorce.

Gretchen froze the instant the mattress dipped under her husband’s weight. For nearly six months they had slept apart and barely touched at all. When his cold hand brushed hers through the sheet, she felt nothing like affection. Only a sharp surge of anxiety and dread.

“What is happening right now?” Gretchen asked in a low voice.

Joshua looked at her in the dark room, his face drawn with exhaustion.

“I really don’t want us to end up hating each other after everything,” Joshua said quietly.

Then he laid his expensive smartphone on the nightstand beside the lamp. Moments later the screen lit up white with an incoming text. Gretchen caught the short message before he could pull the phone out of view.

“Did she sign everything already?” read the message from a contact saved as Cheyenne.

Gretchen’s whole body turned cold.[ Joshua hadn’t come back to her bed out of love or longing. He’d come back because she was due to sign the divorce papers the next day.]

Someone else was waiting on her signature.
