The Invisible Suffering of a Wife

She misses him.
Not just his presence, but the version of him that used to reach for her without hesitation.
The version that made her feel chosen.

So she points things out.
She names what’s not working.
She asks, “Do you even care anymore?” not because she doubts his love, but because she doubts his engagement.
Because she can’t feel him through the wall of calm he hides behind.

It’s confusing to love someone who rarely shows you their inner world.
It’s lonely to be the only one naming what’s missing.
It’s maddening to feel like your partner treats every emotional conversation like a landmine.

And she doesn’t see how her attempts to pull him closer push him away.
She doesn’t realize that the energy of her words feels like danger to him.
Because what she means as longing, his body translates as blame.
