Suleiman nodded.
“After my accident, I discovered that people who had promised to stand beside me were more interested in controlling what remained of my estate. My eldest son wanted me to sign documents I did not fully trust. I refused.”
Malik looked stunned.
“Hamza wanted you to sign what?”
“Papers giving him control over several properties and business interests. He claimed it was for my protection.”
Idris placed another document on the table.
“Some of the proposed arrangements would have given Hamza considerable authority over your father’s remaining assets. Your father sought independent legal advice and decided not to proceed.”
Amina remembered the note she had found.
The property must never be transferred to Hamza.
She felt a chill run through her.
“Then what happened to the money people said was lost?”
“Some was lost,” Idris explained. “Some went toward debts, medical expenses, and obligations to employees. But your father had also purchased a commercial property years before his accident. It was held separately from the businesses that later failed.”
