Women experiencing abuse matter.
Children who witness toxic relationships matter.
Alcohol abuse matters.
Suicidal thoughts matter.
Mental health matters.
And knowing when to leave matters.
Sometimes the bravest thing a person can do is walk away from someone they love.
Sometimes love means accepting that you cannot save someone by staying beside them.
Sometimes two people can love each other deeply and still destroy each other.
I wish Andy and Nikki had found a way to separate.
I wish they had gotten the help they needed.
I wish they had chosen distance instead of another reconciliation.
I wish Andy had believed me when I told him that his life was worth fighting for.
I wish Nikki had been able to find safety.
I wish five children had been allowed to grow up without this story becoming part of their childhood.
But wishes don’t change August 17th.
Nothing can.
Andy is gone.
Nikki is gone.
Their families are grieving.
And five children are left carrying something they never asked to carry.
People on the internet will eventually move on.
Another story will replace this one.
Another headline will appear.
Another argument will fill the comments.
Eventually, most people who discussed August 17th will forget about it.
