THE BRIDE WHO HID UNDER THE BED AND DISCOVERED HER HUSBAND’S DARKEST SECRET

“The records we have reviewed indicate that funds connected to Grayson’s inheritance were involved. We need to establish exactly how the money moved and whether the transactions were properly authorized.”

I stared at the papers.

“Could that be what they were discussing on the recording?”

“Possibly. But we will not assume that until we can prove it.”

I thought about Grayson’s words.

*I kept every receipt.*

At the time, he had believed the receipts would help him take the apartment from me.

Now those same records might help establish where the money had originated and whether someone had misused estate funds.

The evidence he had kept to protect himself could expose the very arrangement he and his mother had hoped to conceal.

But Imelda was careful.

“Remember, a suspicious transaction is not the same thing as a proven crime. We need the records, the legal context, and an accurate accounting. If Saoirse has been deprived of money that belongs to her, she deserves to know. But this must be handled properly.”
