“Reported stolen by whom?”
“An assistant working for Mr. Ambrose.”
Matthew’s mouth tightened.
“So they want the vehicle to disappear from the investigation before anyone asks why it was chasing my car.”
“That appears to be the plan.”
“Find out who authorized it. Quietly. And send a lawyer to the Vargas residence in the morning. I want the full story before anyone files a complaint against that girl.”
His security chief hesitated.
“Sir, there is something else.”
He placed a folder on the desk.
“Three months ago, our investigators flagged several transfers involving Vargas International. The company has been moving money through accounts connected to Ambrose Holdings. The transactions were approved by Isabel Vargas.”
Matthew opened the folder.
The figures were familiar. He had seen some of the same account numbers in a separate investigation into suspicious commercial acquisitions.
“How much?”
“Enough to put both companies in serious trouble if the transfers were unauthorized.”
