Isabel stared at her.
Elena continued.
“You told me my father left nothing behind. You made me believe I was a burden. And when I refused to do what you wanted that night, you treated my refusal as a betrayal.”
Her hands tightened around the folder.
“But I was never your property. I was never a payment you could offer to another person. And I was never responsible for protecting the lies you built around my father’s money.”
The room remained silent.
“I am here because I want the truth recorded. I want what belongs to me returned through the proper legal process. And I want the people who helped make this happen to be held accountable.”
She paused.
“I don’t need revenge to prove that you were wrong about me. I only need to stop living as though you were right.”
Elena sat down.
Across the room, Isabel’s face had lost its practiced expression of superiority.
