She smiled faintly.
“That man watched my softball games for twelve years without ever coming over to introduce himself. He stayed away because he promised my mother he would. I don’t know many people who would sacrifice that much just to keep a promise.”
Her eyes grew wet.
“But when I needed him, he was there. He never asked me for anything. He never tried to replace the father who raised me. He just loved me.”
She paused, struggling to find the words.
“Your Honor, if I can’t raise my daughter myself, I want Ray standing between her and Tyler Haskins. I want her somewhere she can be safe.”
Then she looked straight into the camera.
“Mom, Cole, if you’re watching this, I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. I love you both so much. Please don’t be angry with Ray. He never wanted to hurt our family. He’s just trying to do what I asked him to do.”
