Flowers can sometimes hold dust, soil, or small insects, so wash them carefully before cooking.
3. Heat the Water
Place about two cups of water in a small saucepan and bring it to a boil.
If you enjoy the flavor of ginger, you can add a small piece at this stage.
4. Simmer the Flowers
Add the cleaned papaya flowers to the hot water.
Lower the heat and let them simmer gently for approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
Some recipes recommend boiling the flowers for 25–30 minutes, but a longer cooking time isn’t necessarily more beneficial. It may simply make the drink considerably more bitter.
5. Strain and Serve
Remove the saucepan from the heat and allow the drink to cool slightly.
Pour it through a fine strainer to remove the flowers, then transfer the liquid to a cup.
6. Make It Easier to Drink
Papaya flowers have a naturally strong, bitter taste.
If the flavor is too intense, you can add a squeeze of fresh lemon or a small amount of honey once the drink has cooled a little.
Ginger can also provide a warmer, more pleasant flavor.
7. Start With a Small Amount
If you’re simply trying the beverage, there’s no need to follow a strict seven-day routine or automatically drink several cups every day.
