P2 I slept with a stranger on my sixty-second birthday, and by sunrise he was gone

Ryan shook his head.

“I don’t want money from guilt.”

“Then don’t take it.”

Thomas surprised us.

“Donate it. Invest it. Build something. It isn’t payment.”

“What is it?”

“A choice.”

Ryan was silent.

Then my son said something that changed the future of our family.

“What if we use it to build something for people who have to start over?”

Thomas frowned.

“What do you mean?”

“A foundation.”

Michael laughed softly.

“Please don’t name it Holloway.”

Ryan smiled.

“No.”

Emily leaned forward.

“What about Mom?”

I stared.

“Absolutely not.”

Everyone laughed.

But the idea remained.

Months later, Ryan and Emily used part of the trust to establish a nonprofit legal assistance fund for families dealing with identity fraud, witness relocation complications, financial exploitation, and inherited legal problems.

They named it The Second Morning Project.

Emily said the name came from something I once told her.

“You think your life ends one morning,” she said. “Then eventually there’s another morning.”
