She came to stand beside me.
“Mom has been telling people that you kept us away from her. She told me the same thing in a message two weeks ago.”
My chest tightened.

Chloe opened her phone and showed me a screenshot.
Elena had written that our marriage had been miserable, that I had refused to let her have a better life, and that I had turned the girls against her after she left.
