He had already endured enough.
But later that afternoon, Margaret called me into a private conference room.
The recording was unmistakable.
Harrison’s voice filled the room.
He discussed the financial transfers with his adviser, described how he intended to conceal them, and complained that Richard had placed too many restrictions on the family assets.
Then came a sentence that made even Margaret go silent.
“If my father had simply left everything to me, none of this would be necessary. But he decided to protect that woman and her boy instead.”
His adviser asked, “And what happens if the investigation reaches the board?”
Harrison replied, “It won’t. By then, the assets will have been moved, and the boy will have signed the documents. Emily won’t have the money to challenge anything.”
The recording continued for several minutes.
It didn’t prove every allegation by itself, but combined with the emails, financial records, and independent accounting reports, it provided investigators with a much clearer picture of what had happened.
