Andrew’s expression remained perfectly calm.
“A practical demonstration of why you’re going to enjoy living with roommates.”
Her smile faltered.
“Excuse me?”
He unlocked his phone and placed it on the counter.

“Three rooms. All within twenty minutes of here. One has a private bathroom, one has a little garden, and the third is close to several places that are hiring.”
Kayla stared at the phone.

Then at me.
“You’ve been looking for apartments for me?”
“Rooms,” Andrew corrected. “I thought we should be realistic about your budget.”
She snatched up the phone.
“Andrew, you can’t do that!”
He raised his eyebrows.
“Do what? Use my phone?”
“You know what I mean!”
“Actually, I’m not entirely sure I do.”
I had to press my lips together to stop myself from laughing.
Kayla noticed.
