The children participated in small theatrical performances where they could temporarily exchange roles.
One girl played a doctor.
Another played a teacher.
A third played a famous musician.
At the end of the program, each girl received a symbolic outfit representing her dream profession, along with an opportunity to attend free educational classes.
“Then why were you talking about switching the girls one by one?” I asked.
Clara smiled.
“Because the girls exchange roles during each performance. We want them to explore different possibilities and understand that their futures aren’t limited by the circumstances they were born into.”
I remained silent.
“And the little girl who was crying?”
My mother answered:
“Lily was participating for the first time. She was afraid of going onstage. We offered to let her watch instead, but she decided she wanted to try.”
I remembered the little girl in the pink dress.
“I haven’t finished my new life.”
