My MIL Took Our Gender Reveal Balloon Into the Garage to Open It Without Asking – Moments After I Heard It Pop, She Rushed Back Inside, Screaming That She Was Calling the Cops

“That’s not what I’m accusing you of.”

“But she didn’t.”

I stepped closer.

“I’m asking why you told me she knew it was over when you knew she didn’t.”

He went quiet.

Then he said, “Because I knew if I’d told you the truth, you probably would’ve walked away.”

Publicidad

“I would’ve.”

“I was afraid of losing you.”

I stepped closer.

“So you decided for me.”

Connor looked down.

“Yes.”

That answer hurt.

For the first time since the balloon popped, however, he hadn’t tried to soften what he’d done.

“What else have you edited?”

“So you decided for me.”

Publicidad

Connor looked at me. “Nothing.”

“Did Lauren ever contact you again?”

He hesitated long enough to answer me before he spoke.

“Once.”

“When?”

“About a year and a half into us.”

“Did Lauren ever contact you again?”

“What did she want?”

“Closure. She emailed me.”

“And what did you do?”

“I deleted it.”

Publicidad

I stared at him. “You didn’t tell me.”

“No. I chose not to, Shan.”

“What did she want?”

“Why?”

“We were engaged. I was scared she’d tell you everything.”

“Did it?”

“No!”

“Then you weren’t protecting our relationship, Connor. You were protecting yourself from what I might do with the truth.”
