I don’t know if I’ll ever stop feeling the weight of those fifteen years — the ones I spent choosing quiet loyalty over the harder fight I probably should have picked.
But I know this much.
My son never once stopped being the man I raised him to be. Even when his father couldn’t see it. Even when it would have been easier — maybe even fair — to let him die not knowing.
He saved him anyway.
