My Husband Moved His Mistress Into My House—But Neither of Them Knew What I Had Discovered

He had intended to use my home as cover.

“Margaret,” I whispered, “what were they planning to do here?”

“We don’t know yet. But the investigators are examining whether the proposed meeting was connected to the suspicious transfers and the threats you’ve received.”

I gripped the phone.

“Do they believe I was supposed to be there?”

“Your name appears on the document. We don’t know whether that means you were expected to participate, whether Richard intended to keep you unaware, or whether someone else added your name.”

I felt suddenly, terribly cold.

For weeks, I had thought Richard wanted to move his mistress into my house because he believed he could control me.

Now I understood that he might have wanted my house because it was useful to people whose plans I knew nothing about.

And perhaps he had believed he could keep everyone satisfied until the money was moved and the evidence disappeared.
