My Husband Moved His Mistress Into My House—But Neither of Them Knew What I Had Discovered

He moved closer.

“The money is the smallest part of it.”

For several seconds, neither of us spoke.

Then he looked away, as though he had revealed more than he intended.

“Richard,” I said quietly, “what have you done?”

He grabbed his jacket.

“Nothing you can understand.”

“Try me.”

He stopped at the door.

“You have two choices, Claire. You can stay out of this and keep your comfortable life, or you can keep digging until you lose everything.”

“Is that a threat?”

He opened the door.

“It’s advice.”

He left before I could respond.

I called Margaret immediately.

She told me the investigator had confirmed that Vesna’s company was connected to a network of fraudulent investment arrangements. The exact nature of Richard’s role was still being established, but the evidence suggested that he had been using the company to move funds while concealing the identity of the people who ultimately controlled the transactions.
