Reyes leaned toward her microphone. “Who is the passenger?”

The radio hissed with static before the dispatcher spoke a name that made Uncle Graham collapse into the nearest armchair:

Celeste shrieked—a raw, tearing sound that echoed through the high ceilings.

“My father is dead!” she wept, sliding down the wallpaper until she hit the floor. “He died eleven years ago! I went to his funeral! We buried his ashes in Charlottesville!”

Agent Reyes turned to two uniformed troopers. “Escort Mrs. Margaret Vance and Julian Vance to separate holding rooms on the lower level. Place the residence on tactical lockdown.”
