My Ex’s Best Friend Asked Me to Hang Her Curtains… Then Smiled, “Close Them When You’re Done.”

The camera recorded her looking around the living room before she noticed the device.

She approached it, examined it, and walked away.

Caleb stared at the screen.

“She knew the camera was there.”

My stomach tightened.

“Can she delete the recordings?”

“She used to have access. But the original files are stored in the cloud.”

He immediately revoked her access, changed his password, and downloaded the footage.

Then we called a lawyer.

Her name was Nadia Sterling, and she had an office above a small insurance agency downtown.

She watched the recording twice.

Then she examined the original donation form and the disputed invoice.

“This is useful evidence,” she said. “We need to preserve the original files and establish exactly how the altered document was submitted. The school should also retain its accounting records.”

“Can we clear my name?” I asked.

“We can present strong evidence supporting your account. The district will still need to complete its investigation.”
