My Ex’s Best Friend Asked Me to Hang Her Curtains… Then Smiled, “Close Them When You’re Done.”

I hung up and called Caleb.

He arrived twenty minutes later.

I showed him the document.

He studied it carefully.

Then he pointed at the bottom corner.

“Look at the reference number.”

I leaned closer.

It was the same number used on the original donation form.

The form clearly stated that the materials had been donated at no cost.

Someone had changed the description and inserted a payment amount.

“Who had access to the original paperwork?” Caleb asked.

I thought for a moment.

Then I remembered.

“Delaney.”

She had volunteered to coordinate the art exhibition. She had collected the supplier forms, organized the donations, and helped arrange the pickup.

She had also been present when I carried the materials out of Caleb’s garage.

“She knows the materials were donated,” I whispered.

Caleb’s expression hardened.

“Then we need the original records.”

He opened his laptop and logged into the security camera system at his house.
