My Ex Wife’s Mother Said “I’m Pregnant,” —Then I Froze When She Told Me Who the Father Was!

“Graham! Haven’t seen you in ages. How’s Paige doing?”

I watched Graham’s shoulders stiffen.

“Fine, I assume.”

“She’s got herself quite a life over in Columbus.”

Tom grinned at me.

“Must be strange having your former son-in-law around, Celia.”

There it was.

The label neither of us had forgotten.

Graham paid for his supplies and left.

He barely looked at me.

I drove home feeling ridiculous.

I was a middle-aged woman with a failed marriage, a complicated pregnancy, and a daughter who treated me like an embarrassment.

The last thing I needed was to start imagining something with the man my daughter had divorced.

I tried to forget it.

Then the bench ruined my plan.

I’d rented a sander to refinish the oak, but the machine was too heavy.

After two hours, I’d gouged the wood badly enough to make me sick.

It was one of the few things Dad had left me.
