One of the prospective investors, a silver-haired woman near the front, leaned toward Frank.
“Is the title dispute resolved?”
Frank didn’t answer.
That was answer enough.
I set a copy of the court order on the table in front of the investor.
“Our lawyers can discuss the details. But I’m not selling.”
Paige marched toward me.
“You’re humiliating us!”
I looked at her.
“No. I’m correcting the presentation.”
She grabbed my wrist.
Graham stepped forward.
“Paige. Let her go.”
For a second, I saw the same entitled girl who used to slam doors when she didn’t get her way.
Then she released me.
“You picked him over your own daughter.”
I shook my head.
“I picked the truth over your lies.”
The investor closed her folder.
Frank stared at the floor.
And Paige, who had planned to announce her family’s newest business triumph, stood in front of a room full of people who now knew the property wasn’t hers to offer.
