“Of course I cried!”
“I knew it!”
I began describing the rose petals, the candles, the message on the mirror, and the way Daniel had looked at me when he knelt down.
My mother listened to every detail as if I were telling her the greatest love story ever written.
When I finished, she sighed happily.
“Your father would have loved to see this day.”
Her words touched something deep inside me.
My father had passed away several years earlier, and although I had learned to live with his absence, there were moments when I wished he could have been there to celebrate the milestones in my life.
“I wish he could have been there too,” I whispered.
“He would have been proud of you, sweetheart.”
I looked down at my ring.
For the first time that morning, I felt the full weight of what had happened. This was not merely a beautiful piece of jewelry. It represented a future, a family, and a promise that two people had chosen to make.
