Just after getting divorced after 12 years of marriage, I agreed to care for a company president who could not move his legs for $35,000 a month.

“Then why did you come?”

I looked at him.

“Because nobody deserves to be trapped by the people who claim to love them.”

From an unknown number.

Alexander picked it up.

And the color drained from his face.

He slowly turned the screen toward me.
