“Then why did you come?”
I looked at him.
“Because nobody deserves to be trapped by the people who claim to love them.”
For the first time since I arrived, Alexander smiled.
But that smile disappeared when his phone suddenly lit up.
A message appeared.
From an unknown number.
Alexander picked it up.
And the color drained from his face.
“What is it?” I asked.
He slowly turned the screen toward me.
My hands went cold.
The message contained only one sentence:
1 thought on “Just after getting divorced after 12 years of marriage, I agreed to care for a company president who could not move his legs for $35,000 a month.”
