5. Itchy Genital Area: Infections or Skin Conditions
Genital itching is common and may be caused by fungal infections, irritation from personal-care products, eczema, or other skin conditions. For women, persistent itching may occasionally be associated with vulvar or other gynecological diseases, including certain cancers. Unusual bleeding, persistent sores, skin changes, or symptoms that do not improve deserve medical evaluation.
6. Itchy Palms and Soles: Possible Liver or Bile-Flow Problems
Persistent itching on the palms of the hands and soles of the feet, particularly without a visible rash, can sometimes occur when bile substances accumulate in the body because of liver or bile-duct conditions. Some serious diseases, including certain cancers affecting the liver or pancreas, can cause this type of itching, but they are much less common explanations than ordinary skin conditions.
Pay particular attention if the itching occurs with yellow skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, abdominal pain, or unexplained weight loss.
